Ingredients
- 1 cup (240 ml) 100% Florida orange juice
- 4 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
- ⅔ cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoons orange zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Orange Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- Zest of 1 orange
- 2-3 tablespoons 100% Florida orange juice
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease and flour a 9 x 9-inch baking pan. Place orange juice in small saucepan; cook over medium heat and reduce to ⅓ cup. Cool and reserve.
Melt chocolate and butter over very low heat in a 3-quart saucepan, stirring often. Remove pan from heat; stir in sugar until mixture becomes smooth. Stir in eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add reduced orange juice, orange zest and vanilla. Stir just until sugar is completely dissolved and mixture is smooth and glossy.
In small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir well. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture in thirds, stirring to combine but do not over mix. Spread chocolate mixture in prepared baking pan and bake for 22 to 27 minutes. Brownies should just start to pull away from the sides of the pan and should still be a bit underdone in the center. Remove pan to wire rack and cool.
When completely cool, drizzle with Orange Glaze and garnish with orange zest, if desired. Cut into 2¼-inch squares.
Orange Glaze:
In small bowl, combine powdered sugar and orange zest. Stir in orange juice one tablespoon at a time until mixture becomes a thick glaze.
