Grapefruit lovers, you’re not alone – a recent global survey showed that grapefruit juice from Florida remains a top choice with Canadian consumers. Here’s what they think about Florida grapefruit juice:

  • About two-thirds of Canadians surveyed (64%) prefer Florida grapefruit juice over grapefruit juice from other regions (only 21% prefer it from California)

    • The most frequently cited reasons included: closer proximity and less transport time; taste; fresher quality; and an all-natural option

  • 57% of Canadians surveyed believe grapefruit juice from Florida is better than other sources

    • The most frequently cited reasons included: taste; fresher quality; familiarity; safety regarding pesticides

  • Almost one-half (46%) of Canadians surveyed believe that the highest quality grapefruit juice comes from Florida (only 16% believe that the highest quality comes from California)

  • The vast majority of Canadians surveyed agree that Florida grapefruit juice:

    • Is healthy (90%)

    • Is something they feel safe serving (89%)

    • Is part of a healthy lifestyle (89%)

    • Provides consistent quality each time they purchase (87%)

    • Is a product they trust (86%)

    • Is something they feel good serving their family (85%)

About the global survey

The quantitative research was conducted on behalf of Florida Department of Citrus by WBA Market Research, a full service market research and consulting firm based in California. The survey was conducted between February 7 and 18, 2008 with a total of 1,830 consumers from Belgium, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada. With a sample this size, results can be considered accurate to within +/- 2.3 at the 95% confidence level.
