Ruby Red Grapefruit – The most popular variety of grapefruit with Canadians. Originally called “Redblush” before being renamed to “Ruby Red.”

Availability: September to June
Peak Season: November to March

Appearance:
• Medium to large in size with few seeds
• Usually flattened at each end
• Red-blushed yellow rind
• Deep ruby flesh that fades to pink at maturity

Taste:
• Naturally sweet


Flame Grapefruit – The Flame grapefruit was first introduced to Florida in 1987

Availability: September to April
Peak Season: November to February

Appearance:
• Blush red-coloured skin
• Intensely red flesh
• Usually seedless

Taste:
• Sweet, juicy and very rich in flavour


Marsh Grapefruit – Florida’s signature white variety represents approximately 40% of the total Florida grapefruit production

Availability: September to June
Peak Season: December to March

Appearance:
• Peel is yellow, smooth and thin
• Usually flattened at each end
• Medium to large in size
• White to amber coloured flesh
• Often seedless and plenty of juice

Taste:
• Refreshing
• Sugar and acid are nicely balanced within the fruit
