The winter blues has a way of making us feel constantly tired and rundown. The short days, long nights and the “crisp” Canadian weather is enough to make anyone want to hibernate until the spring. Although it may seem like the best option, it’s probably not the most plausible. So how can you tackle winter woes and build up energy? Embrace the season with a ray of Florida sunshine!
One serving of 100 per cent pure Florida orange juice (250 mL) contains great nutrients and more than a full day’s supply of vitamin C, which is a key nutrient to help support a healthy immune system and help fight off wintertime colds and flues. Orange juice is also a nutritious additive to a variety of recipes! Try this winter warmer to help beat the cold:
Orange Cider
3 cups 100% pure Florida orange juice
1 cup apple juice
2 inches stick cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon whole cloves
Florida orange juice and spices add just the right flavours to this warm pick-me-up.
In a saucepan combine orange juice, apple juice, cinnamon, and cloves. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Sieve to remove cinnamon and cloves. Serve warm. If desired, float Florida orange slices on top.
